OVER THE HILL

Over The Hill is Daniel Savio bka Kool DJ Dust & Samo.

Daniel and Samo met sometime in the late 90's at the local record store/hangout Snickars Records in Stockholm. This was when Samo still was an intern at the store, Daniel used to come by to do some digging or to jam with the now-legendary DJ-crew Scratchaholics. The two of them hit it off immediately, they both came from families with Sami-blood and both proudly sported a “Euro” hairdo (Like an afro but with straight hair).

Dust was already then producing electronic music, he started a band with two friends called “Hundarna Från Söder” (which won a Grammy in Sweden for Best Dance Music Album in 2003) while playing records at the local bars and tagging the streets of Stockholm after the bars closed…

Meanwhile Samo who was a couple of years younger (still is) – and wasn't allowed inside the bars just yet, found himself a sampler and started makin hip-hop beats, when not skateboarding or checking out the girls.

Time passed... and Samo and Dust's friendship grew – From the early mornings they found themselves fighting over the same records at the local swapmeet to the late nights they lent each other money for another bottle of well needed Lapin Kulta. It was only natural that they started making music together. Making original tracks and doing remixes for artists such as Sabu Martinez, Them Shepherds etc.

"The music started sounding like a like a mix between the groups Sky and Skyy" – Samo says laughing when being asked – how to describe their sound. "That's why we call ourselves Dan Sky n Sam Skyy" - Dust says.

"Mums Mums och Banan" is something like a mix between a mixtape and an album, or better yet "Like a Road Movie without the road or the movie" as DJ Dust describes it. Musically very very mixed with influences from Stockholm Reggae to Stagger Lee to Over The Hill's rolemodels Cheech & Chong. Out Now on limited press of 200 copies on High Feelings Records.
